How to use Planning Poker

Planning Poker is an agile estimation technique: each team member secretly votes on the complexity of a user story, then everyone reveals at the same time. Gaps between votes trigger discussion (why the gap?) before a new round of voting.

  1. Enter the user story to estimate
  2. List the participants (one name per line)
  3. Pick the card deck (Fibonacci, T-shirt, etc.)
  4. Each participant clicks their name then their card (votes stay hidden)
  5. Click Reveal to show all votes, the average and the spread
  6. New round to estimate the next story (team and deck are kept)

Why these decks?

The values are non-linear: as complexity grows, our ability to estimate precisely shrinks. The Fibonacci sequence and its variants reflect this growing uncertainty. T-shirt sizes are great for early-stage rough estimation.
